K&K Poster

For those of you who received the facebook message, you all know that Element is closed tonight due to an organized event. This is so fustrating when trying to build the flow of a weekly party but we hope that you will all be back to join us next week!

In spite of tonights closure, I still thought it would be important to do the weekly updates, and instead of 4 tracks, I hit you with a couple extra. Also, I think it's the right time to make a major announcement regarding some guests we have coming on February 18th. Many of you may know them already and for those who don't, you might want to get to know these guys because their seriously turning heads everywhere they go.

They go by the name of Keys N Krates. A group consiting of  champion turntablist DJ Jr. Flo, R&B sensation Matisse, and the ever so humble Adam Tune. I could sit here and rant about all of their great accomplishments and the props they have been getting by huge industry publicists and supreme artists but I rather just let you check them out for yourself!

ALL THURSDAY NIGHT PRICING IS IN FULL EFFECT! EVEN WHEN WE HAVE GUESTS

The Best of 2009

Now what would a music blog be without someone summarizing their favourite tracks from the previous year. I'll be the first to admit that it begins to get a bit redundant, and you never know which lists are actually worth checking out. While some lists are true to popular belief, there is always the pessimist who refuses to acknowledge that the best songs usually mean they have become 'pop'ular at one time or another. These are the people who always put together some huge list of tracks that you have never even heard of before. Well, I may be a bit of a hypocrite. There could be a few songs on my list that you may have never heard of before but they are all simply amazing.

Let me start by saying that my list is highly influenced by the two completely opposite residences that I had the privilege of playing through out 2009; one night was inspired by electro, while the other top 40. So basically, my list is just a collective of random songs that I loved playing the most. There's no analytical analysis, or systematic structure to my collection. People take these "wrap up's" way to seriously.

Here it is. 20 songs in no particular order that I enjoyed playing over the past year. * (Tried to keep the remixes to a minimum)

Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Shooting Stars - Bag Raiders
Use Somebody - Kings of Leon
Moombah - Afrojack
Pon De Floor - Major Lazer
1901 - Phoenix
Let the Bass Kick - Dj Chuckie feat Jermaine Dupri
Fixin to Thrill (Villains Remix) - Dragonette
Rock Paper Scissors - Fukkk Off
Best I Ever Had - Drake
Animal - Mike Snow
Nothing to Worry About - Peter Bjorn & John
Empire State of Mind - Jay Z feat Alicia Keys
Little Secrets - Passion Pit
Sleepy Head - Passion Pit
Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear
K'Naan - Wavin Flag
Day N Night (Crookers Remix) - Kid Cudi
Turbo Love - Bag Raiders

NYE

This Thursday at Element Nightclub, we have a super special party planned to jump start everybody into the new year. We also have a super special guest joining us. From Friday Night Sessions and Saturday Night Seduction at Element Nightclub, we have the "Italian Stallion" AKA "Mr. Marshall A" collaborating with Trekk on the wheels of steel. Many of you may know Marshall for his prominent success in organizing some of the largest shows Victoria has witnessed. He is also the co-host of New Era Radio at CFUV Victoria and has a major list of other accomplishments that are just to extensive for me to get into. We are all ecstatic to have Marshall joining us for this shambolic night.

Doors open at 8:00PM and tickets are $15. I suggest you get down to Element early and at least get your stamp. If you would like more details please go to our Facebook page which can be found here.

PS. Happy Birthday Uncle Marsh.
